A brilliantly speedy and versatile performer, Southern Image was a grade one winner from 1400 to 2000m. He is from the same Halo line as Champion Freshman Sires Don’t Say Halo and More Than Ready, and from the female line that produced Seattle Slew and Mr. Prospector.

Southern Image’s sire, Halo’s Image, has a stakes winner out of a mare by Danzig’s son, Honor Grades. Danzig should be good in general, and particularly so through Danehill and sons such as Flying Spur, Redoute’s Choice and Nothin’ Leica Dane who all give a double of Sir Ivor, combined with his genetic relative, Halo. Green Desert and sons carry that same pattern.

We have mentioned that Halo combines well with Sir Ivor. That particularly suggests Sir Tristram line mares, sources including Zabeel and his son, Octagonal, Kaapstad, Sovereign Red, Military Plume, Marauding, Grosvenor and Dr. Grace.

Halo’s Image has a stakes winner out of a mare by a son of Forty Niner from the Mr. Prospector line, and that branch could be found in Australia through Distorted Humor. Other Mr. Prospector line stallions who could be found in Australia and that might work here are Woodman, Bellotto, Seeking the Gold (as sire of Secret Savings), Geiger Counter, Elusive Quality, Zafonic, Xaar, El Moxie, Thunder Gulch, End Sweep, Grand Slam, Lion Cavern, Jade Hunter, Unbridled’s Song and Vettori.

Southern Image is an outcross for the Star Kingdom line, and that might best be brought in through Biscay, and his sons Bletchingly and Marscay; Kaoru Star and his son, Luskin Star; and Noholme II (particularly through Shecky Greene).

We should also mention that Southern Image is a half-brother to the graded stakes winning sprinter, Black Bar Spin, who is by a son of Honour and Glory.
