Strada is a dual stakes winning sprinter with record-breaking speed. A brother to Group One winner Shinzig, he is bred on the same Danehill/Mr. Prospector cross that has also produced Champion sire Flying Spur.

Two Australian broodmare sire lines that have done particularly well with Danehill are Sir Tristram and Star Kingdom.

Sir Tristram can be brought in through Zabeel and his sons, Octagonal, Kaapstad, Sovereign Red, Military Plume, Marauding, Grosvenor and Dr. Grace.

Star Kingdom can be introduced through Biscay and his sons Marscay. (3 times winning & Stakes performing filly CHARM’S HONOUR is from a granddaughter of Bletchingly.) Using the aforementioned Flying Spur as a guide, daughters of Canny Lad, Best Western and Star Watch through Bletchingly, and grandsons Kingdom Bay and Hurricane Sky should be well suited. Further Star Kingdom lines include Kaoru Star (through Luskin Star and his son Covetous).

Other Australian strains that have worked well under Danehill are Crown Jester and Rory’s Jester; Century through Centaine and Rubiton; Zeditave; and Vain. Danehill is a Northern Dancer line horse, but his sons have worked well back over certain branches of that line, including Nijinsky II (through Caerleon, Royal Academy, Whiskey Road,) Try My Best and his son Last Tycoon; Sadler’s Wells (sire of Scenic, Barathea, Galileo, Montjeu and Carnegie), and his brother Fairy King (sire of Encosta de Lago) who look particularly promising here.

Sources of Mr. Prospector that might work well with Strada as they do with the similarly bred Flying Spur include Bellotto, Woodman, Miswaki (sire of Umatilla), Seeking the Gold (sire of Secret Savings), Gone West (and his son, Zafonic), Thunder Gulch, Machiavellian (and his son, Street Cry).

Additional broodmare sire lines that have done well with Danehill include Blushing Groom and Sharpen Up, and it is also worth considering mares descending from Halo through More Than Ready and Don’t Say Halo.
