A good starting point in identifying prospective broodmares sires is endeavouring to linebreed to influential ancestors such as BLETCHINGLY, STAR KINGDOM, LUNCHTIME, NIJINSKY,VAIN and WILKES. Alternatively we can seek high concentrations of Nasrullah and his close relatives, or ancestors closely related to Fair Trial and Dodoma.

An obvious target for Stratum would be pedigrees containing BEST IN SHOW, the fourth dam of Redoute’s Choice.This is beautifully illustrated through the pedigree of Last Tycoon, whose sire Try My Best is by Northern Dancer, out of a Buckpasser mare, herself out of Best In Show.These combine beautifully with the pedigree of STRATUM and also reinforce Natalma the third dam of Danehill. Others that fulfil this condition are BIGSTONE, IGLESIA, MARJU, MONDE BLEU, O’REILLY and SPINNING WORLD.

A special mention should also be given for two other damsires reinforcing Dancing Show, the grandam of Redoute’s Choice in the appropriate generation, namely UMATILLA and HURRICANE SKY.Broodmares with either of these as damsire must surely be strong candidates.
NIJINSKY can be a powerful influence in pedigrees, so to complement the presence of Nijinsky in the pedigree of Dancing Show it would be desirable to reinforce him in the same generation through male progeny. This can be achieved through the potential broodmare sires LUJAIN, QUEST FOR FAME, SUCCESS EXPRESS and JEUNE (highly compatible because of the strength of Fair Trial and close relatives in the pedigree of Kalaglow).
