30th Stakes-Winner for Stratum

 In 2016

A full brother to Group III winner I’m All The Talk, Stratum six year-old Straturbo became the 30th stakes-winner for his Golden Slipper winning sire when taking out the Listed BRC Chief De Beers Stakes at Doomben on Saturday.

Prepared throughout his career for a big group of Elite Thoroughbreds owners, Straturbo has been a great investment for connections winning seven races and 10 times from 40 starts to amass over $415,000 in prizemoney.

A close second in a Listed race at the same venue three weeks ago, the Gary Portelli trained sprinter upped the ante to win his first Black Type event, taking the 1050 metre dash by two lengths.

A $45,000 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale purchase for Elite Thoroughbreds from the Widden Stud draft, Straturbo was bred by Teeley Assets and is one of three winners from Weekend Gossip, a half-sister by Hussonet (USA) to triple Group I winner Mentality.

Weekend Gossip was sold as part of the Teeley Assets Dispersal in 2014 with Bert Vieira securing her for $270,000.

Straturbo is the fifth stakes-winner this season for Widden Stud’s Stratum, who is priced for value this year at a $22,000 fee.
