Group One Goodwood Goal for Sebring Sprinter

 In 2016

Posting his fifth consecutive win at Flemington on ANZAC Day was lightly raced Sebring stallion Supido, a $190,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Three Bridges Thoroughbreds draft.

Problems such as a severe foot abscess and pharyngitis have limited Supido’s racing career to date, but ability has never been lacking.

Prepared by Mick Kent, the exciting four year-old powered to the line under 60 kg to win the 1200 metre sprint by nearly two lengths in an utterly dominant display.

Supido took his record to five wins from seven starts with prizemoney topping $240,000 with the Group I SAJC Goodwood Handicap next month his obvious next target, although his trainer is worried he may not gain a start in the $500,000 feature.

“I’m going to nom for the Goodwood. That’s my aim so I’ll have a look at the weights and if I have to run him again, I have to,” Kent said.

“There’s the race two weeks before in Adelaide or there’s a 1000(m) race here (Flemington) a fortnight before.

“Ideally, he’d go straight in but I have to weigh up whether he’d get a run or not.”

Bred by Gilgai Farm and consigned on their behalf by Three Bridges, Supido is the third winner from three to race from Lady Succeed (Jpn), a winning Brian’s Time daughter of French Group II winner Hydro Calido, a daughter of super producer Coup de Folie.

This is the family of countless Group I winners including Arc winner Bago and successful sires Machiavellian and Exit to Nowhere.

Sebring also featured with smart three year old winners on Monday and last Saturday with Supply and Demand scoring for Gai Waterhouse at Randwick today and Sir Bacchus winning at Rosehill last Saturday for Chris Waller.

Both horses were resuming from spells and look primed for successful preparations so are well worth following.

Supply and Demand was a $170,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Widden Stud draft for Gai Waterhouse/James Harron Bloodstock and Sir Bacchus was a $130,000 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale purchase from the Widden Stud draft for Laurel Oak Bloodstock.
